The band’s stop in Muncie is just one of the stops on their tour. To see where else they will be playing you can visit their website.

Be Here Now’s Free Music Monday will feature a partially foreign band this Memorial Day.

Slow Caves, an alternative group from Colorado will be performing at 7 p.m.

The four member band features Jakob and Oliver Muller, both originally from Denmark.

The brothers were born in Denmark and moved to Colorado shortly after Jakob was born. In elementary school the two met David Dugan and Jackson Lamperes, who both share the love for music.

“Music is the thing that drives all of us,” Jakob said. “It’s the thing that we’re most passionate about.”

The band began playing in Muller’s basement where they performed covers of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day. In 2016 Slow Caves signed with Old Flame records, but they still prefer to practice at home.

“It still feels kind of weird when we come home from tours and load into our parent’s basement," Jakob said. "It’s definitely surreal it’s a very cushiony and nurturing place to grow from."

This is only the second time Slow Caves has performed on the east coast and Jakob said they are ready for a change of scenery and a new type of audience.

“I think we’re just excited for a really different vibe, just to have a new source of inspiration," he said.

Their style is something that Jakob feels the east coast will really appreciate, comparing their harmonizing to the Beach Boys and their guitar and drums to Nirvana. As the band tours the east side of the country, they are hoping to gain a larger audience and more popularity.

“I think we’re hungry for the next thing,” Jakob said. “We have a goal, we move toward that goal and then it’s like okay that was possible we worked hard and this happened so let's see what we can do next.”
