Ball State men’s tennis faces Mid-American Conference rival Toledo for the second time this season on Friday.
The Cardinals (10-8, 2-1 MAC) won the first matchup with the Rockets (9-11, 0-3 MAC) 6-1. Ball State head coach Bill Richards said his team
“We talk about controlling our effort and attitude,” Richards said.
The Cardinals are on a two-match winning streak against MAC opponents, while the Rockets are on a five-match losing streak. Richards said his team is just taking it one at a time.
“All we are thinking about is the next match with Toledo and we are not looking back or ahead,” Richards said.
The Cardinals will be facing against a tough opponent in Stjepan Sisko, who's 12-5 in first-flight matches. Richards said he has tremendous respect for Sisko.
“When Lucas [Andersen] plays him, we always know that Lucas has to be at his best to get a win,” Richards said.
Senior Lucas Andersen is 9-5 in his singles matches this season, all of which have come in the first flight.
Sophomore Conner Andersen has won his last seven singles matches and is 11-7 overall.
Sophomore Marko Guzina is on a three-match win streak and Guzina said he tries to keep his performance level high.

During practices this week, Guzina has been working on being mentally focused for his upcoming match. Guzina said that it helps him become mentally prepared.
The match begins at 2 p.m. Friday at Varsity Tennis Courts in Toledo, Ohio.

Delta will be on the road for its next contest against Hoosier Heritage Conference rival Shelbyville April 23 at 6 p.m. Muncie Central will travel to Muncie Burris for its next matchup, also April 23 at 6 p.m.
