Fourth Quarter

Junior running back Darian Green picked up a first down on a 3-yard rush to start the quarter. The Cardinals went for it on 4th-and-5 from the Toledo 29 later in the drive, and quarterback Riley Neal's pass was incomplete.

Toledo ate up 4:46 on its next drive, but Ball State cornerback Josh Miller picked off Toledo quarterback Logan Woodside in the end zone to end it.

The Cardinals took over at their own 20-yard line, trailing 37-13 with 6:32 left.

With the aid of a pass interference to start the drive, Ball State got the offense going. Neal hit Hazelton with consecutive passes, then found senior KeVonn Mabon for 20 yards down to the Toledo 16. Neal threw his second touchdown of the day on the final play of the drive, an 11-yard pass to freshman Damon Hazelton.

The 2-point conversion was no good, and the lead was 37-19 with 3:46 left.

Toledo ran out the rest of the clock to seal the game.

Toledo defeats Ball State, 37-19.

Third Quarter

Toledo started its first drive of the second half at the 30-yard line after the kickoff return.

Two plays in, quarterback Logan Woodside hit running back Kareem Hunt on a screen pass, and he took it 71 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was good, extending the lead to 27-10.

Ball State decided not to go for it on 4th-and-1 from its own 34, but senior Kyle Schmidt pinned the Rockets at their own 4 with a 62-yard boot.

Hunt continued his big quarter, as he kept Toledo's drive alive with a 39-yard gain on third down. Fellow running back Damion Jones-Moore also broke off a 25-yard run. In the end, kicker Jameson Vest hit a career-long 49-yard field goal to give the Rockets a 30-10 with just under eight to go.

The Cardinals responded with a drive deep into Toledo territory, but Neal came up short on a third-down rush. Sophomore Morgan Hagee made his 37-yard field goal attempt to cut the Rockets' lead to 30-13 with 3:13 left.

Toledo didn't waste any time answering, as the Rockets went 75 yards in four plays for a score. Woodside connected with junior Cody Thompson, who ran it the rest of the way for a 42-yard score. The extra point made it 37-13.

Ball State is facing a 2nd-and-7 from its own 45-yard line as time expires.

After three, Toledo leads Ball State 37-13.

Second Quarter

Toledo was stopped for a loss on the first play of the quarter, and settled for a field goal. Kicker Jameson Vest split the uprights on a 37-yard kick to make the score 17-0.

Sophomore quarterback Riley Neal put the team on his back and put the Cardinals on the board for the first time. He finished 2-3 for 19 yards, and ran three times for 47 yards on an 8-play, 93-yard drive that ended in a 10-yard score to junior wideout Corey Lacanaria.

Sophomore kicker Morgan Hagee's extra point was good, making it 17-7.

Toledo pushed the ball into Ball State territory, and decided to go for it on 4th-and-4 at the 33. The screen pass fell incomplete, however, and the Cardinals took over with 8:48 left in the half.

Neal found Mabon to convert a 3rd-and-5 to the 49-yard line, and then again on 3rd-and-3 to the Toledo 38. He connected with senior receiver Aaron Hepp to the Toledo 11-yard line on the sideline on the next play. Hagee capped the drive with a 24-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 17-10 with 5:05 remaining.

The Rockets went three-and-out on their next drive, and Hepp received the punt at the Cardinals' 29-yard line.

After a Ball State punt, Toledo's Corey Jones (returned a punt for a touchdown earlier) took a 3rd-and-20 screen pass for 36 yards and a first down. Toledo kept marching, as quarterback Logan Woodside hit running back Kareem Hunt for a first down to the Ball State 20-yard line.

Vest cashed in a 37-yard field goal to end the half for the Rockets.

At halftime, Toledo leads Ball State 20-10.

First Quarter

Toledo won the toss, and chose to defer to the second half. Ball State started its first drive at the 25 after the kickoff.

Sophomore quarterback Riley Neal pushed the Cardinals down the field with three completions and a run, but a holding penalty at the Toledo 37 pushed them back. Neal was hit on third down and Ball State was forced to punt, which was downed at the 7-yard line.

The Rockets faced a third down inside their own 20, but senior running back Kareem Hunt busted up the middle for 19 yards and a first down. Four plays later, Toledo quarterback Logan Woodside scrambled and slid. Junior cornerback David Moore was called for targeting on the hit, and was ejected.

Woodside found Jon'Vea Johnson for a 28-yard touchdown down the right sideline on the next play. After the extra point, Toledo was up 7-0.

Ball State's next drive, which began at the 35-yard line, started with a first down buy stalled near midfield. Senior punter Kyle Schmidt's punt bounced out of bounds at the Toledo 12-yard line with 5:51 left.

Woodside got the drive going with a couple completions to Johnson and Hunt, but the drive ended when senior safety Martez Hester broke up a pass on third down. Toledo punted to the Ball State 15-yard line.

The Cardinals went three-and-out, and Schmidt's punt was returned for a touchdown by Toledo senior Corey Jones. The extra point made it 14-0 with 1:47 left in the quarter.

Neal ran 13 yards for a first down to get the next drive going, but sophomore running back James Gilbert and the Rockets recovered.

At the end of the first, Toledo leads Ball State 14-0.
