Coming off a fourth-place finish at the Cardinal Classic a week ago, Ball State women's golf heads north to Michigan to play in the Kzoo Classic Oct. 3.

Head coach Katherine Mowat attributes the team's success to the hard work of the players so far this season.

"The general consensus is we all want to do well and we work hard to get the results that we want," she said.

The Cardinals are led by sophomore Sydney Anderson, who is averaging a 73.00 this season. Her best individual ranking this season is tied for fourth at the Cardinal Classic. She had scores of 69, 73, and 78 over the course of three rounds. Anderson has two top-20 finishes and two top-10 finishes this season.

Mowat said Anderson's fundamentals and mental strength during rounds are her two biggest strengths this season.

Ball State's two seniors, Kelsey Sear and Allison Lindley, tied for 19th and 27th respectively. Sear and Lindley both average a 76 this season, right behind Anderson. Sear has had one top-20 finish this season, with her lowest round of the season, a 73 coming during the final round of the Cardinal Classic. Lindley has yet to post a top-20 or top-10 finish.

This is the Cardinals' first time playing at the Kzoo Classic and the Moors Golf Course.

Mowat believes the team needs to bring their best in order to be successful at this tournament.

"We need to prove we can put together three good rounds next week," she said.

The Cardinals will begin the tournament Oct. 3 in Portage, Michigan at the Moors Golf Course. The tournament is a two-day event and will conclude Oct. 4.
