Ball State softball senior pitcher Nicole Steinbach was named Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week.

Over the weekend at the Western Kentucky University Holiday Inn Spring Fling at Bowling Green, Ky., Steinbach went the full seven innings and allowed no earned runs in her win against Southeast Missouri.

Against Western Carolina, she went five and a third innings, allowing three earned runs in the win.

Steinbach finished her weekend with a four-inning relief appearance against Valparaiso, allowing zero earned runs on her way to her third win of the weekend.

Steinbach posted a 1.29 earned run average and 14 strikeouts in those games and collected three more wins, adding to her team-high total of six, bringing her record to 6-2.

She leads the team in ERA (3.18), wins (6), innings pitched (50.2) and strikeouts (31).

The softball team is back at it again this weekend in Fort Myers, Fla., at the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament on March 4. Ball State will face off against Stony Brook, Florida Gulf Coast and 21st-ranked Notre Dame.
