Ball State soccer starts spring schedule with pair of wins

Ball State soccer started its spring schedule March 19 with exhibition wins over Spring Arbor and Tiffin University.

In the first game, Ball State defeated the reigning National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national champion Spring Arbor 3-0. The team received goals from junior Aly Kohanowski, senior Gabby Veldman and junior transfer Allison Abbe from Cincinnati. 

Abbe scored her first goal as a Cardinal. Junior goalkeepers Alyssa Heintschel and Tristin Stuteville, a transfer from Saint Louis University, combined for two shutout victories.

Ball State followed the first victory with a win over Tiffin University 5-0. Kohanowski added two more goals to her tally, along with sophomore Lauren Roll, junior Lucy Walton and Veldman with another score. Veldman's second goal came from a free kick from outside the box.

The Cardinals continue their spring schedule on April 2 against Indiana State at Carroll Stadium on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in Indianapolis.
