Ball State trailed 2-0 in the top of the sixth when junior second baseman Sean Kennedy hit a two-run home run off Valparaiso right-handed pitcher Ellis Foreman to tie the game.

Junior right fielder Alex Call led off the top of the seventh with a single to centerfield and then stole second. Call advanced to third on a sacrifice fly from junior first baseman Caleb Stayton.

Cleanup hitter and catcher Jarrett Rindfleisch, also a junior, knocked in Call with an RBI single down the left field line for the 3-2 lead.
