Lots of new beauty products have emerged in the past few months that claim to be “amazing.” I’ve done some research, and here’s this month’s “hit” and “miss.”

Let’s start with the “miss.” Where does one go for a good foundation? ULTA. I walked in expecting to leave with the Two-Faced “Born this Way” foundation. However, I was second-guessing myself, so I asked a sales associate for help. This was a mistake.

The sales associate pointed me toward an I.T. Cosmetics sales representative that happened to be in the store. She gave me the I.T. Cosmetics “Your Skin But Better” C.C. Cream plus Illumination. I specifically asked for something matte and full coverage.

Being stupid, I thought to myself, “Well, maybe she knows better than I do. I’ll purchase this $38.00 product anyway.” Big mistake. When I arrived home, I tried on this product and have used it a couple times since. Every single time, I have been left looking like an oily disco ball. I’m sure this product would be perfect for someone who has dry skin, but for all my oily/combination girls out there, I implore you to stay away!

Now, let’s talk about a product that was a “hit” with me this past month. I recently purchased a few more shades of the Colourpop “Super-Shock” eye shadows to add to my collection. The shadows I picked up are in accordance to the picture.

The first shade I picked out is an intense metallic silver named “Liberty.” The next shade I picked out was an impulse buy because I wanted another berry colored shadow to add to my collection. The shade I chose, named “Drift,” is a beautiful medium burgundy with hints of pink. The last shade I picked came from collaboration with one of my favorite YouTube makeup gurus Kathleenlights. The shade “Telepathy” is everything I’ve been looking for in a one of a kind yellow-green gold.

Each shadow only costs $5.00. All of the Colourpop shadows have a creamy consistency and apply best with a finger or a damp flat brush.

The moral of this story is that you should try new brands because they just might blow some of your high-end products out of the water!

Your face is your canvas.
