A historic season came with the best record in conference record and most players placed on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America team in Ball State soccer history.

Junior defender Lorina White, senior midfielder Chelsy Swackhamer and freshman forward Abbie Boswell, were all placed on the NSCAA Division 1 Women’s All-Great Lakes Region team.

The three selections were the third-most of any team in the Great Lakes region, beat only by Rutgers (4) and Penn State (5). Out of all Mid-American Conference teams, including tournament champions Western Michigan, Ball State placed highest in total number of players.

White won MAC Defensive Players of the year honors after allowing only 6.6 shots and 3.1 shots on goal per game on her way to becoming the first Cardinal since 2005 to make first team all region. With her effort, the Cardinals climbed to 17th in the country in goals against average at .623. Offensively, White added four goals, the third most goals scored on the team.

Ball State also sent to offensive players to the all-second team.

Swackhamer was selected with her impressive MAC leading five game-winning goals. Her nine season goals brought her to fifth on the Ball State sing-season list in the record books. Her 21 total points were highest on the team, in credit to her three assists.

Boswell closed out the list for the Cardinals with her MAC Freshman of the Year honors and scoring the most goals as a Ball State freshman in team history. She also ranks second in the Cardinal record books for most goals scored in a season from her 10 goals.

The two offensive selections for the All-Region team lead the Cardinals offensive attack, which ranked 10th in the country, with 18.5 shots per game, and 11th in shots on goal per game with 8.45.

Two of the three selections will be returning to the team next year, and Ball State will only be losing seven players to graduation.
