Ball State soccer goalkeeper Alyssa Heintschel, has been dominant on field as well as in the classroom.

Heintschel has been named the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the week.

This school year, Heintschel owns a 4.0 GPA while majoring in chemistry. She has been doing this while holding opponents to 0.77 goals against average, which ranks 53rd amongst all division-1 soccer opponents.

The Cardinals have shut out opponents five times this season, the most recent coming from Ball State’s 3-0 victory last Friday against Kent State.

Heintschel made a big contribution to the Oct. 10 victory against Ohio, recording two saves in the last 10 minutes as Ball State went on to win 2-1.

Currently, the team is on a seven-game winning streak, tying for the longest in the nation. The Cardinals are also undefeated in the MAC, with a 6-0 record.

The Cardinals will play Northern Illinois and Western Michigan this weekend before returning to Briner Sports Complex the next week.
