After guiding the Ball State women's volleyball to a 3-0 start, senior Alex Fuelling has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week.

Fuelling was also named the Most Valuable Performer of the Active Ankle Challenge over the weekend.

“[Fuelling] had the best tournament of her Ball State career,” head coach Steve Shondell said in a statement. “She did a phenomenal job offensively, but also served strong, passed well and played solid defense. She was our go-to player all weekend long. It’s a new beginning for [Fuelling] this season, and it was great to see her playing like a senior.”

This is Fuelling's first time winning the offensive award. She finished the Active Ankle Challenge with 51 kills and 45 digs while hitting at a .325 clip.

Through the team's first three matches, Fuelling ranks fourth in the MAC in kills per set average and eighth in attack percentage. She has finished with the match-ending kill in all three matches.

Fuelling and the rest of the Cardinals return to action tonight as they take on IUPUI on the road. The team then travels to take part in the Lipscomb Invitational this weekend.
