Steinbach pitched seven innings for the seventh time this season, allowing four hits all game. She struck out five batters and walked one.

"Nicole [Steinbach] was incredible on the mound for us today we needed her to play like she did and she delivered," head coach Tyra Perry said.

Steinbach recorded her 10th win of the season, her third straight season with at least 10 victories.

"She threw a lot of pitches but we weren't concerned at all," Perry said. "She was in her groove and kept her going."

At the plate, the Cardinals posted six hits on the day. Senior Hanne Stuedemann and freshman Leigh McAnally led the team with two hits each.

The winning run came off a sacrifice fly by junior Selena Reyna in the sixth, scoring sophomore India Steward from third.

"Their pitching was very strong and they had great fielding that really held us back at times, but we were able to get what we needed," Perry said

The win was the fifth straight for the Cardinals, their longest win streak of the season. Ball State is 19-18 on the season and 5-1 in the Mid-American Conference play.
