Ball State football head coach Pete Lembo announced on Tuesday that Alex Bailey has been named the Cardinals' wide receivers coach.

Bailey spent last season at Wayne State, serving as the wide receivers coach for the Division II program in Detroit.

A 2007 graduate of Youngstown State, Bailey played football for the Penguins from 2001-03.

“We are very pleased to welcome Alex to the coaching staff and the Ball State football family,” Lembo said in a statement. “We have gotten to know Alex over the last few years through summer camps and during off-campus recruiting travels ... Alex has spent his entire coaching career in the Midwest and we expect a smooth transition. Our receiving corp will enjoy and benefit from his sincerity, integrity and detailed approach.”

Ball State wide receivers combined for 19 receiving touchdowns last season.
