WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State sweeps Toledo

The Ball State women's volleyball team registered a 3-0 sweep at Toledo Thursday night.

With the win, the Cardinals secured the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Mid-American Conference Tournament.

Offensively, Ball State turned in one of its most balanced attacks of the season. The team hit .340 overall, with 45 kills. No player recorded double-digit kills in the match.

Middle hitter Kelly Hopkins and outside hitter Sabrina Mangapora had nine kills each to lead the Cardinals. Outside hitter Alex Fuelling and middle Amanda Raker each added eight.

Setter Jenna Spadafora turned in three kills of her own, while also assisting on 37 of the team's kills. She added a service ace and seven digs.

Junior Kati Vasalakis led the match with 17 digs. Sophomore Nikki Box was the only other Ball State player in double figures with 10.

The Cardinals recorded six blocks as a team. Hopkins had one solo block and two assists and fellow middle Hayley Benson had three assists.

With the win, the Cardinals are now 16-12 overall on the season with a 10-5 MAC record.

Ball State's final regular season match will be played Nov. 15 at Worthen Arena against Akron. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
