The only shot Ball State put on goal the entire second half ended up being the deciding shot in the opening game of the Navy Tournament against Delaware.

The Cardinals struggled offensively all match long, only mustering three shots on goal. Delaware took over four times as many shots, but failed to put any points on the board.

At the 65th minute, sophomore Leah Mattingly gave Ball State the lead with a penalty kick. The goal was Mattingly's first of the season, and Ball State would hold on for a 1-0 victory.

Coming into today, the Cardinals had been struggling in the second half of matches, allowing three goals after intermission in its last two matches, a loss and a tie.

With the win, the Cardinals improve to 3-1-1 on the season. Ball State will face host Navy Sept. 14 in the final match of the Navy Tournament.
