The Ball State baseball team was eliminated from the Mid-American conference tournament with a 1-4 loss to Western Michigan.

Right fielder Alex Call scored the only run for Ball State, a first inning RBI single by catcher Jarett Rindfleisch, as Broncos pitching held the Cardinals’ lineup to three hits on the game.

Nestor Bautista got the start. The tall southpaw threw three innings, while allowing only one run on four hits. Tyler Jordan relieved Bautista in the fourth and would take the loss, giving up two runs in 1.1 innings.

Rindfleish picked up two of Ball State’s three hits, with shortstop Alex Maloney earning the third.

With the loss the Cardinals’ 2014 season comes to an end. In head coach Rich Maloney’s second year back with the program, he helped guide the team to a record of 39-18.
