Ball State fell to 7-8 on the season and 2-2 in the Mid-American Conference in a loss to BowlingGreen, which improved to 14-2 and 4-0 in the MAC.

Final score: Bowling Green 72, Ball State 61

Second half:

The score remained tight through out the second half. Bowling Green started to pull away in the final minutes, but until that point it felt as though either team could win.

Bowling Green shot 5-for-8 from deep in the second half while Ball State shot just 1-for-7. The Falcons held a considerable advantage at the free-throw line, as well.

Around the five minute mark, Ball State’s junior guard Brittany Carter converted an and-one play to pull Ball State within four. A critical stretch of foul calls over the following few minutes pushed the game out of reach for Ball State.

First half:

Ball State closed the first half holding a 31-28 lead. Sophomore forward Nathalie Fontaine led the team with her 9 points on 3-for-5 shooting. Carter was the team’s only other player with more than two field goals as she scored 8 points on 3-for-6 shooting.

The Cardinals outrebounded the Falcons 16-15 in the half. With 13, Ball State gained one more free throw in the first half as well.

The Cardinals’ most glaring issue was inaccuracy from the three-point range. The team ended the half shooting 0-for-7 from deep. Even consistent shooter freshman Jill Morrison launched an air ball early in the game on her way to shooting 0-for-3 in the half.
