GoDaddy Bowl Official Student Travel Package

Cost: $150 ($100 for students with 750 or more student rewards points)

When: Jan. 3-6

Travel destinations: Mardi Gras Parade, GoDaddy Bowl

Lodging: Two nights at Ashbury Hotel & Suites in Mobile, Ala.

Though it’s roughly 11 hours away, athletic director Bill Scholl wants students packed into Ladd-Peebles Stadium when Ball State takes on Arkansas State in the GoDaddy Bowl Jan. 5.

“Having students at our games is our number one priority, and I hope we can get them down for the game,” Scholl said in an interview following the bowl announcement.

Buses destined for Mobile, Ala., will depart at 7 a.m. Jan. 3 from Worthen Arena. For $150, students can purchase the official Ball State Student Travel Package.

The package includes transportation to the Mardi Gras parade Jan. 4 and the GoDaddy Bowl on Jan. 5. Lodging for two nights at the Ashbury Hotel & Suites is included in the price as well.

With a Student Rewards Points total of 750 or more, students can purchase the package for a discounted price of $100. Reservations can be made at the Worthen Arena ticket office or over-the-phone until Friday.

Game tickets can be purchased separate from the travel package for $20.

When Ball State traveled to Northern Illinois for a chance to clinch the Mid-American West division championship with win, students were able to sign up for a free bus trip.

Scholl said students’ response to the free travel opportunity, made possible in part by donations from alumni Jason Whitlock and Brady Hoke, was “tremendous.” He said he hopes to see a similar turnout for this trip.

Ball State is playing in its second consecutive bowl game with a chance to get the first bowl win in team history. Now bowl-eligible for three straight seasons, Scholl said the program is headed towards the consistent success he hopes to establish.

Scholl said he wants the trip to Mobile to carry strong student participation from this season into next year’s campaign.

“I hope students will come down and cheer them on,” he said. “I’m just really excited to go to a second consecutive bowl. This game is kind of the last game of this season and the first game of next season.”
