WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ball State beats Toledo 6-1

Ball State women’s tennis team won 6-1 against the Toledo Rockets at home.

The wind was high and it altered some serves but it was not enough to knock off the Cardinals whose doubles teams play was constant—winning across the board, first at No. 2 followed by 1’s and 3’s.

Lexy Pitt and Emily Mazzola, from Toledo played at No. 1 doubles against the Courtney Wild and Courtney Earnest. Pitt had a cross-court serve that the Courtney tandem had to learn how to combat.

Ball State took care of business and went on to gain all singles points save one.

Losing her first set 6-2, could have been a result of not actually playing, but she was able to fight back, winning the second sets 6-1 and 6-3.

The Cardinals are now 3-1 against opponents in the MAC, a feat that hasn’t been achieved in nine years. The team plays Eastern Michigan tomorrow at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
