FOOTBALL: Zebra predicts second week of games

Zebra predicts the second week of Mid-American Conference games going on Saturday.

Ball State at No. 12 Clemson

The spread isn't nearly as bad as it was against Oklahoma last season, maybe someone is giving Ball State some respect. Ball State dominated Eastern Michigan, something that wasn't exactly expected considering the two teams' recent history. Clemson will be a different story, so expect them to easily clear the spread.

Score: 45-10 Clemson

Southern Illinois at Miami (OH)

Despite getting pummeled by Ohio State, Miami should be able to compete well against Southern Illinois. Miami stayed close with Ohio State for a little while before Urban Meyer's offense just went crazy. Miami should rebound and show MAC's progress this season.

Score: 24-14 Miami

Illinois State at Eastern Michigan

Eastern Michigan's rebound as a legitimate program could derail if it loses this game. Eastern Michigan faces Purdue and Michigan State in the next two weeks, meaning it could start off the year 0-4 with a loss Saturday. They won't.

Score: 31-20 Eastern Michigan

Indiana at Massachusetts

UMass was held to 59 yards in its opener against Connecticut with a total of three first downs. No matter how bad Indiana is, it won't matter.

Score: 27-6 UMass

#11 Michigan State at Central Michigan

Michigan State has already beaten a ranked opponent after narrowly getting by Boise State. Unfortunately for Michigan State, there should be an asterisk there. Boise State had no business being ranked and this game would be fun to watch if it was the Central Michigan of old.

Score: 28-10 Michigan State

Toledo at Wyoming

Toledo lost in overtime to Arizona. Wyoming played a slightly overrated Texas team and lost by 20. Expect Toledo to rebound to get on track for its MAC East run.

Score: 27-17 Toledo

Morgan State at Buffalo

Buffalo had a pretty strong showing against No. 6 ranked Georgia. The combined rushing of 199 yards should be a big factor against Morgan State. Buffalo continued to rebound from bottom of MAC.

Score: 20-7 Buffalo

Akron at Florida International

Neither Akron nor Florida International had great showings in their opening weeks, losing by 42 and 20 respectively, but that does provide motivation for either to have a first win against weaker competition. It is still hard to pick a team that lost by 42.

Score: 31-17 Florida International

Idaho at Bowling Green

While both teams lost by double digits, Bowling Green had a more impressive showing facing No. 23 ranked Florida. Idaho was only able to amass a field goal against Eastern Washington, so look for the pass-happy Falcons to get its first win.

Score: 27-13 Bowling Green

New Mexico State at Ohio

Ohio is riding high after beating Penn State in its opener and rightfully so. Ohio was picked to win the MAC for a reason. A letdown game is possible, but Ohio will come out focused and ready to play.

Score: 33-15 Ohio

Tennessee-Martin at Northern Illinois

Northern Illinois narrowly missed an upset over Iowa despite playing its first game without graduated former quarterback Chandler Harnish. The weaker competition is a welcome sign for the Huskies.

Score: 28-10 Northern Illinois

Eastern Illinois at Western Michigan

Western Michigan's Alex Carder had a rough first game against Illinois. Three interceptions with only one touchdown is not what he usually gives the Broncos. He's better than that and will show it against Eastern Illinois.

Score: 27-14 Western Michigan

Kent State at Kentucky

Kent State's offensive output against Towson was impressive despite it being an FCS team. Unfortunately for Kent State, they can't compete with any SEC team. No way with the amount of talent the SEC is pumping out these days. Not to mention, Kent State making one of the oddest plays in the history of college football by running the wrong way against Towson.

Score: 31-20 Kentucky
