WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ball State suffers 4-3 loss to Toledo

Both freshman win singles matches to go along with the doubles point

After eight straight road matches, the Ball State women's tennis team played its final road match of the season Saturday at Toledo. The Cardinals lost, 4-3.

Ball State won the doubles point despite the No. 1 team of freshmen Courtney Wild and Ashlyn Rang losing 8-2 to the Rockets. The No. 3 team of sophomore Kristel Sanders and Lauren Pickrel won by default. Saturday was the first match of the season that Wild and Sanders weren't playing on the same doubles team.

The two freshmen won in singles play, as Wild beat Kelsey Anonsen 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5), 10-4 and Rang beat Chrissy Coffman 6-0 6-2.

It was a day for the youth as the two freshmen won in singles, but the two seniors, Sarah Hebble and Kylee Johnson, both lost 7-5, 6-3 to Toledo on Saturday.

The team will return to Muncie for a pair of matches on Easter weekend against Western Michigan and Bowling Green.
