WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ball State comes home after series of road matches

Bader relieved to finally play at home in front of fans

After losing to Eastern Michigan last week, Christine Bader decided it was time for a change.

After 15 matches this season, she decided to mix up the doubles order to try to provide a spark for her team's March 31 match at Toledo.

Bader was pleased with the results.

"Paola Rodriguez at 2 just played amazing and kind of took over that match and got Sarah (Hebble) playing a lot better as well," Bader said.

The new doubles lineup starts freshmen Courtney Wild and Ashlyn Rang at the No. 1 spot, Hebble and Rodriguez at No. 2 and sophomore Kristel Sanders and junior Lauren Pickrel at No. 3.

Ball State will play Western Michigan and Bowling Green this weekend.

The team is on a six-game skid, but will only play home matches until its season concludes.

Bader hopes a fresh slate of home matches brings a fresh start for the team.

"It's definitely nice to be back," she said. "We've been on the road for so long; I think the girls are excited to play at our home courts with our fans and supporters here."

The Cardinals will play Western Michigan Friday at 1 p.m., and Bowling Green Saturday at 1 p.m.
