Outside of softball, it's hard to argue if any Ball State team finished the spring season hotter than the women's golf team.
It's equally hard to argue that any Ball State athlete performed better than Jenna Hague in the last month.
To conclude its 2011-12 season, the Cardinals placed second in the Mid-American Conference Championships this weekend with a score of 924, behind only Kent State, which won its 14th consecutive conference title.
Only a few weeks after winning her first event championship, Hague finished in first in the conference tournament after shooting a 223 with a low-round score of 69. A hole-in-one on the 15th hole of the final round shot her into that standing.
To finish the year, Hague won or tied for first in the final three events Ball State competed in. That led to three top-four finishes for the team.
Hague's hot streak didn't come without several record-setting accomplishments.
She became only the third non-Kent State golfer to win the MAC Championships in the last 14 years, as well as the second Ball State golfer to ever take the title.
Junior Autumn Duke came in behind Hague for eighth in the standings with a 233. Junior Zoe Camus tied for 11th, shooting a 236.
Sophomore Meghan Perry posted a 239 to tie for 14, while senior Katie Windlan finished out her Ball State career in a tie for 25th with a 243.
Ball State saved one its best performances for last, as the second-place finish was only the third top-three placing in the last three seasons.

Delta will be on the road for its next contest against Hoosier Heritage Conference rival Shelbyville April 23 at 6 p.m. Muncie Central will travel to Muncie Burris for its next matchup, also April 23 at 6 p.m.
