MEN'S TENNIS: Michigan State snaps Ball State's 11-match winning streak

Five of the six singles matches end in sweeps for MSU

Ball State's just can't escape its Big 10 demons. Michigan State made completely sure of that on Saturday.

The Spartans easily swept the Cardinals 7-0 on the road to end an 11-match winning streak dating back to Jan. 20. The visiting team was so thoroughly dominated that Alexandre Brym was the Ball State player to push a match to three sets, eventually losing to 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 in singles to Austin Brooks.

Michigan State quickly made off the doubles point to open the match and take a 1-0 lead. Seniors Zane Smith and Derek Carpenter lost 8-5 in the first doubles match. Freshman Ray Leonard and junior Dalton Albertin didn't fare any better in the second doubles contest, also losing 8-5.

From there, the Spartans swept five of the six singles matches to hand the Cardinals an unfamiliar feeling of defeat.

Ball State will travel far from its sweep for its next match, playing UNLV In Las Vegas on Thursday at 2 p.m. It will then play Northern Arizona on Friday at 10 a.m. in the same location.
