MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING: Ball State in sixth after first day of MAC Championships

Five BSU swimmers land in the top-16 of events, but none in the top-eight

After one day in the Mid-American Conference Championships the Ball State men's swimming team is holding onto sixth place behind Eastern Michigan, Southern Illinois, Buffalo, Miami, and Missouri State.

The Cardinals had five swimmers place in the top-16 teams Thursday, but none in the top eight. Junior Nick Stevens squeaked into the last spot of the top-16 in the 500-yard freestyle. Senior Chris Krupa and junior Michael Weber finished 10th and 12th respectively in the 200-yard individual medley.

Senior Casey Schroeder finished 12th in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 20.58 seconds and sophomore Jake Brehmer placed 14th in the 1 meter diving event with a score of 267.90.

The conference championships continue Friday at 11 a.m. starting with the 400-yard individual medley.
