WOMEN'S GOLF: Ball State in eighth place after first day of season opener

Perry in a tie for 18th to lead Cardinals

In its first tournament of the 2012 spring season, the Ball State women's golf team stands in eighth place out of 17 teams in the Claud Jacobs Challenge in Victoria, Texas.

Ball State shot a 331 in the first round and a 209 midway through the second round, which was not completed on the first day due to darkness.

Sophomore Meghan Perry finished with an 82 in round one to rank in a tie for 18th place as Ball State's top golfer. Fellow sophomore Sarah Westaway is right behind her in 22nd.

The rest of the Cardinals lineup finished with junior Autumn Duke in 35th, senior Katie Windlan in 52nd, and freshman Jenna Hague in 61st.

The remainder of the second round will be played this morning and the third and final round will immediately follow it.
