MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ohio State makes quick work of Ball State with 3-0 sweep

Ball State hits its second lowest attack percentage of the season

Another chapter was written on the Ball State men's volleyball team's struggles in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association on Friday.

Ball State fell to 1-3 in the conference and 7-5 overall with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-17) loss to Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.

The Cardinals failed to connect on offense throughout the entire match, totaling an overall hitting percentage of .112 through  three sets. It was the second lowest percentage the Cardinals have hit this season.

Meanwhile, Ohio State had its way on offense to earn a success rate of .318. Senior Shawn Sangrey led the Buckeyes with 13 kills on 38 attempts.

Junior Larry Wrather was the only Ball State player to reach double-digit kills, finishing with 10. He also hit .217 for the highest mark among the team's outside attackers.

Freshman Shane Witmer hit three attacking errors on all three of his first attacks and was quickly replaced by freshman outside attacker Matt Sutherland in set one with Ball State down 12-19.

Outside of hitting a service ace near the start of set two, Sutherland didn't fare any better than Witmer. He was unsuccessful on all 12 of his attacks, recording zero kills and one attack error.

Ball State will return home tonight to play IPFW, which is coming off a 3-1 loss to No. 1 Division III team Carthage on Friday. First serve is at 7:30 p.m
