MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals get road win over Huskies

Four players score in double figures to lead Ball State

Ball State avoided comparisons to NAIA member Roosevelt Saturday with a 75-65 win over Northern Illinois in Dekalb.

Despite trailing much of the first half, an 11-2 run before the break kept Ball State from becoming Northern Illinois' third win of the season.

With the vicotry, the Cardinals improved to 12-5 (4-1 in the Mid-American Conference) while the Huskies dropped to 2-15 (1-4 in the MAC).

Abdel Nader and Northern Illinois cut the lead to five points with 7:59 left in the game, but never got it that close again. Nader led the team with a game-high 28 points.

Four Cardinals scored in double figures, led by senior center Jarrod Jones with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomores Chris Bond and Jessee Berry added 14 and 12 points, respectively while senior point guard Randy Davis tallied 11 points, respectively.

Saturday was Ball State's final game against a MAC West Division opponent for nearly a month. The team plays six straight teams from the East Division with a combined record of 62-45.

That stretch begins with hosting reigning MAC Tournament Champion Akron Tuesday at 7 p.m.
