WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Cardinals add first recruit to 2012 class

Spadafora signs on to play for Ball State next year

Ball State women's volleyball officially signed its first member of the 2012 recruiting class on Monday. Jenna Spadafora signed a national letter of intent to play at Ball State next season.

Spadafora is a 6-foot-1-inch setter from Carroll High School and also played club volleyball for the Fort Wayne Volleyball Club.

As Carroll's Most Valuable Player this past fall, she led the team to a 26-9 overall record and to the regional championships. She ended her career with 916 assists, 749 kills and 513 digs as a three-letter winner.

"Jenna will be a very nice addition to our volleyball program at Ball State," coach Steve Shondell said in a press release. "She has tremendous potential as a collegiate athlete and has the ability to become an outstanding volleyball player at Ball State University."

Now that senior setter Brittany McGinnis has completed her final season at Ball State, Spadafora will be in position to battle with sophomore setter Jacqui Seidel and freshman setter Jaclyn Fullove for playing time in 2012.
