WOMEN'S TENNIS: New assistant coach shares connection with coach Bader

Ball State preparing for Ohio Valley Regional this weekend

The Ball State women's tennis team looks to continue its winning ways this weekend as a few of the players travel to Memphis, Tennessee for the Ohio Valley Regional.

The Cardinals have stocked their coaching ranks with graduate assistant Whitney Wilson.

Wilson, who was brought on in August, graduated from Michigan State University in May. She played tennis all four years as a Spartan and was coach Christine Bader's doubles partner during her freshman year.

"It's a great experience," Wilson said of coaching with Bader. "We were very close when we were on the team together so it's nice to come in and talk about tennis things we went through in college, to be able to work together and to know each other so well and have a close relationship."

Sophomore Kristel Sanders, freshman Courtney Wild, senior Dena Boulieris and freshman Ashlyn Rang will all play this weekend. Sanders and Wild will pair up to play doubles together, as will Boulieris and Rang.

All four will play in singles, with Wild in the main draw.

"They've had a lot of match experience so far this season. We'll hopefully improve upon that. We face a lot of solid competition," Wilson said.
