CROSS COUNTRY: Cards place second in opening race

Mary Kate Mellen finishes as the top Ball State runner in sixth place

Ball State cross country brought home a second place standing this weekend in the Miami Open in Oxrod, Ohio. 

Miami of Ohio, who hosted the meet, took the first place team ranking in the 5K race. Miami had four runners place in the top five.

Mary Kate Mellen was the Cardinal's top runner in the event, placing sixth with a time of 19:04

Eight seconds behind Mellen was freshman runner Courtney Edon, who placed seventh.

Captain Madeline Goheen ran a 19:25 to round out the top ten for Ball State.

Ball State heads to Bloomington, Ind. next weekend to compete in the Indiana Intercollegiate race.
