SOCCER: Cardinals name assistant coach

Former Creighton assistant coach Moschos hired to same position

Second year soccer head coach Craig Roberts announced the hiring of Ileana Moschos to the position of assistant head coach, according to Ball State Athletics Monday.

Moschos has 10 years of coaching experience and has spent the last four years as the top assistant coach at Missouri Valley Conference school Creighton.

In Moschos' four years at Creighton, they posted 35 shutouts and had an All-Conference goalkeeper in three out of four years. They also won the 2010 MVC Conference Tournament.

"In a highly-qualified and experience pool of candidates, Ileana clearly represented the traits I believe will be essential in the continued progress of the Ball State soccer program," Roberts said in a press release. "She is a diligent and hard-working individual who carries the experience and expertise needed to move our program forward."

Before Moschos began her coaching career, she played for the California Storm and was named the Most Valuable Goalkeeper in the Women's Professional Soccer League in 2002. She was also invited to the first-ever Women's United Soccer Association combine and draft. In 2004, she was a member of the Greek National Team during the Athens Summer Olympics.

Moschos has received her premier, advanced national and national diplomas from the NSCAA and has been a licensed goalkeeping coach since 2000.

"I am very excited to join the Ball State soccer family," Moschos said in a press release. "I believe coach Roberts has tremendous passion and knowledge of the game. He possesses a very dynamic vision to make the Ball State soccer program very successful. I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to coach with him and be part of the future of BSU soccer."
