FOOTBALL: Eric Williams leaves Ball State football team

Personal reasons force Williams to bid farewell to BSU

Ball State running back Eric Williams has left the football team due to personal reasons, according to a statement released by the Ball State athletic department.

First-year head coach Pete Lembo did not elaborate on Williams' reasoning for leaving the team.

"We wish Eric nothing but the best in his future pursuits both academically and athletically," Lembo said. "Everyone handles change differently.  We certainly respect Eric's decision to look for a better fit elsewhere.  We will continue to provide him with whatever assistance he needs."

Williams ran for 613 yards and five touchdowns in 2010. He was in position to fight to be the starting running back in 2011.
