MEN'S GOLF: Ball State begins home invitational

Cardinals to host Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational today

Ball State men's golf begins play at 9 a.m. this morning in its only home tournament.

The Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational tees off at the Delaware Country Club.

The Cardinals are coming off two strong weekends for two different conference golfers of the week.

The most recent winner, freshman Tyler Merkel, is coming off an individual first place finish at the Adidas Hoosier Invitational down in Bloomington, Ind.

Also, sophomore Alex Stinson finished third overall in the Mizzou Intercollegiate the week before.

Joining the host Cardinals, fellow Indiana schools Butler and Evansville join the 15-team field. Mid-American Conference rival Northern Illinois will compete as well.

Ball State will field two different teams in the tournament.

On team one is Eric Steger, Tyler Merkel, Alex Stinson, Tony Lazzara, and Brodie Williams. Team two consists of TJ Carpenter, Zac Treash, Anthony Novak, Wes Phelps, and Connor O'Neal.
