FOOTBALL: Ball State holds spring game today

Lembo to run non-traditional scrimmage for spring game

Ball State football holds its annual spring game Saturday at 3 p.m., the first under the direction of coach Pete Lembo.

Lembo has former Ball State head coaches Bill Lynch and Paul Schudel returning to be the honorary coaches for the spring game.

He also is running a non-tradition style of spring game scrimmage. Instead of a traditional offense vs. defense and alternate possessions, Lembo has designated the Red team as offense and the White team as defense.

The first team offense will scrimmage against the first team defense and the second team offense will scrimmage against the second team defense.

The scoring has been determined by the following:

Offense:

First Down – 1 point

Touchdown – 6 points

PAT – 1 point

Field Goal – 3 points

Two point conversion – 2 points

Defense:

Stop a drive – 1 point

Three and out – 3 points

Takeaway – 3 points

Defensive touchdown – 7 points

Safety – 2 points
