WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ball State travels to Dayton after long break

Team to play three weekend matches after 12-day layoff

After a 12 day break, the Ball State women's tennis team will go on the road for three matches as it prepare for conference play.

The Cardinals will travel to Dayton, Ohio to compete in a three-match weekend on Saturday taking on

West Virginia State at 1:30 p.m. and then face Robert Morris at 7 p.m.

The Cardinals will then face Air Force in the third game of the weekend on Sunday.

The Cardinals have a 3-5 after a win against Oakland University on Feb. 13.

Ball State coach Christine Bader said she told the team they needed to

stay focused and stick to the game plan.

"In singles each person has their own game plan and they need to stick with that and think positive," she said. "They have to keep fighting the whole match."

Bader plans to mix up the doubles partners this weekend to try something new.

"A big thing with our team is we want to start off strong with the doubles point," she said. "I kind of mixed the doubles teams up a little bit. We're going to try out some different combinations."

Bader said she thinks the doubles point is a key factor in the outcome

of the rest of the match.

"I usually feel like the doubles point sets the tone for the rest of the match, but in that regard, it's only one point so if you don't come out and win the doubles point you still have a chance to win the match," she said. "It can just get you off to a good start."
