The Ball State women's swimming and diving team hit its stride on Day 3 of the Mid-American Conference championships, posting six school records.

The record setting began early in the day. Freshman Mallory Miles shattered the Cardinals' all-time mark in the 400-yard individual medley with a swim of 4:20.22 in the preliminaries – more than five seconds faster than the previous record. She would go on to place sixth in the finals, the highest individual finish by a Cardinal so far.

In the next preliminary, the 100 butterfly, freshman Haley Richter set the school record with a 55.31. Richter broke her own mark with a swim of 54.63 in the finals, which was good for ninth place.

Junior Nicole Saulters broke the school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.82 during the preliminary rounds.

Another record-setter was senior Katie Bylsma, who posted a 1:50.66 in the 200 freestyle. Bylsma's time broke the mark of 1:50.81, set by freshman Emily Wisolek in the preliminaries.

The final record to fall was in the 100 breaststroke, where freshman Bridgette Ruehl swam a 1:03.94. Ruehl had set the previous best time of 1:04.12 on Dec. 4.

The Cardinals also smashed the 400 medley relay record. The squad of Saulters, Ruehl, Richter, and Bylsma posted a 3:45.69 – good for fifth in the conference and nearly four seconds faster than the old mark.
