FOOTBALL: Ball State trails Northern Illinois after first quarter

Northern Illinois controlled the start of the game against Ball State, and leads 14-0 after the first quarter.

Quarterback Chandler Harnish threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Nathan Palmer on the Huskies first drive to take an early lead. Northern Illinois added to its lead with less than two minutes left in the quarter, returning a blocked punt 15 yards for a touchdown. It is the second week in a row Ball State has had a punt blocked.

Northern Illinois held the ball for about nine minutes of the first quarter while Ball State struggled to move the ball on offense.
