The Ball State soccer team couldn't overcome an early deficit at Akron and lost its third-straight match Friday night.
The Zips netted two goals in the first 21 minutes, which proved to be all they needed to secure the 3-1 win.
Sophomore defender Brigit Reder scored her first goal of the season for the Cardinals, but it wasn't enough.
For the third time this season, Ball State lost despite outshooting its opponent. Akron tallied only five shots to Ball State's eight.
The loss drops Ball State's record to 0-3 in Mid-American Conference play. The team returns to action Sunday against Ohio.
