The Ball State men's basketball was selected as the preseason favorite to win the Mid-American Conference West Division today.
Ball State edged Central Michigan in the poll, which is voted on by a panel of 24 media members. The Cardinals received 12 first place votes and 124 points overall. The Chippewas followed with 122 points and eight first place votes.
Central Michigan received more votes to win the MAC tournament with four votes to Ball State's two.
Center Jarrod Jones was the only Cardinal to make the West Division Preseason All-MAC team. This is his second consecutive year of that honor.
Ohio was selected as the favorite to win the East Division and the MAC Tournament.
Ball State is coming off a 15-15 season and is returning four of their five starters.
Ball State will open the season at home against Eastern Illinois on November 14.
