FIELD HOCKEY: Ball State wins first MAC game

Cardinals split home weekend

Ball State 2, Missouri State 1

Junior midfielder Devanny Kuhn had a standout game Saturday against Missouri State, scoring both goals in Ball State's home-overtime win.

Her second goal was the game-winner and came unassisted in overtime after Bears' goalie Steph Anderson dove for the ball and Kuhn went around her for the score.

Casey Bayliss scored Missouri State's lone goal at 49:52 with an assist from Jennifer Portell. Bayliss also had five shots on goal.

The Cardinals goalkeeping duo of Morgan Hammer and Chelsea Mitchell had a combined total of 10 saves.

Ball State is 4-6 heading into this weekend's road game at Central Michigan.

Miami 2, Ball State 0

Field Hockey had another disappointing shut-out loss to Miami.

Both Ball State and Miami University tied for shots 10-10. Yet, Ball State still came up short at the end of the game.

The RedHawks scored both goals in the first half.

Kuhn led Ball State with seven shots, while forward Brittany Hammer recorded three.

Goalie Morgan Hammer from Ball State recorded two saves with five total shots on goal.
