FOOTBALL: Iowa extends lead in second quarter

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Stan Parrish was very concerned about No. 18 Iowa's defensive prowess this week. In the first half, the Hawkeyes have showed why Parrish was worried.

Ball State has just 54 yards of offense in the first half and trails Iowa 21-0.

The Cardinals have been stymied by the Hawkeyes, unable to run the ball or get open for quarterback Keith Wenning. The true freshman is 4-for-8 for 26 yards and an interception. He also fumbled.

Kelly Page leads Ball State in rushing with 10 yards on two attempts.

Iowa scored its first touchdown of the second quarter on an eight-yard pass from Ricky Stanzi to Keenan Davis. Stanzi would add a second touchdown pass later in the quarter. He is 16-for-21 for 177 yards and two touchdown.

Adam Robinson has 105 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Hawkeyes.

The Hawkeyes attempted their first field goal of the season in the second quarter, but Michael Meyer missed the 37-yard try.
