FOOTBALL: Ball State, Purdue in a close game heading to the fourth quarter

Cardinals trail by eight

WEST LAYFAYETTE – Continuing to hang tough with Purdue, Ball State enters the fourth quarter trailing just 14-6.

The Cardinals scored their first touchdown of the day on a one-yard rush by MiQuale Lewis. The Boilermakers blocked Steven Schott's extra point attempt.

Ball State's defense, meanwhile, kept Purdue in check. The Cardinals' scoring drive was set up by Sean Baker's third interception of the season, giving them good field position. Baker has 13 career interceptions, one shy of the school record.

Quarterback Keith Wenning did not complete a pass in the third quarter, going 0-for-2. Eric Williams leads Ball State in rushing, with 62 yards on 10 carries.
