WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ball State blanked on the road at Toledo

Cardinals travel to Eastern Michigan today in regular season finale

It was another day, another loss for the Ball State University women's tennis team, as the Cardinals were shut out by the University of Toledo Friday afternoon, 7-0.

In the first of two away matches on the weekend, Ball State was only able to add another match to a long stretch of losses. The team has now lost eight of its last nine matches, dropping its overall record to 7-13 and its Mid-American Conference record to 1-6.

Ball State characteristically started the day by losing the doubles point. The No. 3 team of Lauren Pickrel and Sarah Hebble put up the best fight for the Cardinals, but ultimately lost their match 7-8 (3).

The poor play from the Cardinals spread into the singles matches. Only Kylee Johnson and Katherine Rist were able to push their matches into three sets, but both ultimately lost to their Toledo opponents.

Junior Georgina Thompson was able to play after injuring her knee last weekend against the University of Akron. However, her effectiveness was minimal, as she lost 6-2, 6-2 to Toledo's Maha Guirguis.

Ball State today travels to Eastern Michigan University for its final regular season match of the year before it begins the MAC Championships next weekend.
