SOFTBALL: Cardinals limp into doubleheader vs. Bowling Green

Ball State currently on season-high four-game losing streak

Ball State University has one job to accomplish in today's doubleheader against Bowling Green State University that it hasn't had to do all season:

Snap a legitimate losing streak.

The Cardinals host the Falcons today in the midst of a season-high four-game losing streak. Ball State was swept by Kent State University last weekend and Purdue University in a doubleheader Wednesday.

For the most part, Ball State might just have to make minor adjustments to ensure a win or two against Bowling Green. Three of the Cardinals' last four losses have been by no more than two runs, including Wednesday's 6-4, eight-inning affair.

Ball State, however, still has to get the bad taste out of its mouth from its last game against the Boilermakers. The Cardinals (28-13) managed only one hit off Boilers' starter Suzie Rzegocki, a double from senior third baseman Jessie Ware, in their 7-0 loss.

Purdue, meanwhile, had no troubles with Ball State's No. 2 and 3 pitchers, Audra Sanders and Kim Mazzapica. The duo combined to allow seven runs — all earned — while giving up 12 hits and two home runs.

The Cardinals will likely turn the ball over to senior ace Elizabeth Milian today to stop the bleeding. Milian is 20-5 this season, and earlier this year became the Cardinals' all-time leader in career strikeouts.
