WOMEN'S GOLF: Cardinals earn 6th in loaded UNLV invite

The Ball State University women's golf team finished in sixth place Wednesday afternoon in the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Invitational, finishing with a team score of 896.

Host UNLV won the tournament with a score of 866, while the University of Texas ended up in second place with an 878 and Texas Tech University finished in third place with an 886.

Junior Brittany Kelly, who entered the day in 17th place individually for Ball State, ended up in third place by shooting a 215.

Junior Kristtani Cain and Senior Kristy O'Conner both ended their second tournament tied for 25th place with a score of 225, while sophomore Rachael Pruett tied for 61st and finished the tournament with a 232.

Freshman Chantelle Hefer finished her first tournament as a Cardinal tied for 84th after starting the third round in 67th. She finished with a score of 240. Sophomore Katie Windlan, competing as an individualm finished in 93rd with a score of 247.

The next tournament for the team will be the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate in Stockbridge, Ga., on March 22-23. The small break will give the team some much-needed rest after competing in back-to-back tournaments this week.
