SOCCER: BSU's Vannatta, Ridley earn Academic All-MAC

Duo formed two of the three team captains from last season's team

For the sixth straight season, Ball State University had multiple representatives on the women's soccer Academic All-Mid-American Conference team.

Junior Tina Vannatta and senior Megan Ridley — both team tri-captains — earned the honor Wednesday, as voted by faculty athletic personnel at MAC schools.

Vannatta, a defender, is an exercise science major who owns a 3.95 grade-point average. In 38 career games for the Cardinals, Vannatta has 35 career starts and has two career goals to go along with several key stops on the Ball State back line.

The academic honor is nothing new for Ridley, who has a 3.36 GPA, also in exercise science. A second team All-MAC selection on the field this past season, Ridley earned Academic All-MAC honors her junior season when she was also a first team All-MAC selection. The midfielder finished her career ranked seventh in the program in all-time in goals (7) and ninth in points (30).
