MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING: Ball State hoping to end semester on high note

Although the calendar has turned the page to December, the Ball State University men's swimming and diving team has no intentions of getting an early start on Winter Break. On Friday, Ball State hosts Eastern Illinois University at 6 p.m. The Cardinals get no rest as they head to Indianapolis the following day to take part in a quad-meet against IUPUI, Western Illinois University and Saint Louis University. It will be the second time that the Cardinals have traveled to IUPUI this season, as they placed second in the IUPUI House of Champions tournament November 13 and 14.

Ball State enters their match Friday with a three-game winning streak against Eastern Illinois. Last year, Bob Thomas's team defeated his alma mater at Eastern Illinois, 157-116. This year's Eastern Illinois team is 2-1 in head-to-head competitions and is coming off a 114-107 win at Saint Louis.

Coach Bob Thomas has quite a legacy at Eastern Illinois and is a member of the Athletics Hall of Fame at the university. He is one of only three swimmers that has been inducted.

IUPUI holds the best record of the three teams Ball State will face Saturday at 1-2, but were defeated soundly by Saint Louis (119-66). Ball State finished ahead of Western Illinois and IUPUI at the House of Champions tournament where the two schools finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
