In its worst loss since the 2006 season, Ball State University was overwhelmed by Kent State University in an 8-0 shutout to end the Cardinals' regular season.
Ball State was shut out in both of its games this weekend, falling 3-0 to Ohio University on Saturday.
In the first game, the Bobcats were able to muffle the Cardinals offense, allowing just nine total shots compared to the Bobcats 19.
Marcy Dull would give Ohio the early lead that they would carry into the half.
The offense of Ohio kept on rolling as they put up two more goals in the second half, one at the 42:58 mark and the other with less than two minutes remaining in the match.
Sunday, the Cardinals looked to rebound against the Golden Flashes, but bad turned to worse for the Cardinals.
Kent State's Debbie Bell began her scoring frenzy on the Ball State defense ten minutes into the game. An unassisted goal was scored by the Golden Flashes' Laurie Wilkins at the 28:47 mark, and Debbie Bell's second goal gave Kent State a 3-0 lead going into the half.
Nothing was going Ball State's way offensively, and the defense told the same story.
In the second half, Bell and the rest of her teammates piled on five more goals.
Bell finished the game with a five-goal performance as she led both teams in shots taken, with 11.
Coach Annette Payne was unable to comment on this weekend's games.
With the two shutouts this weekend, Ball State has been shut out five times this year.
The Cardinals finished the regular season with an overall record of 4-14, with 2-8 in Mid-American Conference play.
With the win, Kent State earned a share of its second-straight MAC regular season title. Ohio and Kent State tied for the regular season crown with a 9-2 record in MAC play.
The MAC Tournament begins Thursday and will be held in Muncie. Ball State will open play against Central Michigan University at 11 a.m.

Delta will be on the road for its next contest against Hoosier Heritage Conference rival Shelbyville April 23 at 6 p.m. Muncie Central will travel to Muncie Burris for its next matchup, also April 23 at 6 p.m.
