Whether you’re ready or not Halloween is approaching. Yes, you can watch horror movies anytime of the year, but there is something special about curling up on the couch with some apple cider and watching your favorite seasonal movies around Halloween. We all know of super scary horror movies such as Halloween, The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A nightmare on Elm Street and so on. While some of us live for the super scary, gory movies, others prefer the not-so-scary ones. If that’s you- here are five movies you need to watch. These films won’t keep you up at night, but will still get you in the spooky mood!

1.             Jennifer’s Body

Jennifer’s Body takes evil teenage girl to the next level. Although, Jennifer’s body contains a lot of the aspects of a typical scary movie like gore and a monster, it lacks a lot of suspense. The plot is better predictable and seriously, can you really get that scared of Megan Fox?

2.             Black Swan

This movie is not very in-your-face scary but definitely psychologically twisted. Yes, there are spooky parts but in general the movie is a dark concept that can be interpreted in different ways. Along with the Cabin in the Woods, this movie is a technically a quality movie with a great plot. It’s a story of a ballerina’s passion for perfection that disputes her everyday life. *hint- eventually things takes a turn for the worst.

3.             Gone Girl

Continuing with the psychologically disturbing, we have Gone Girl. This movie is the mystery of “Amazing Amy’s” disappearance. With a large media frenzy surrounding the incident and the reveal of relationship issues, casues her husband to be the prime suspect. Overall this movie is just simply disturbing.

4. Cabin In The Woods

From the first scene you will notice this movie is not so subtle in trying to be a stereotypical scary movie. Although this movie contains monsters and plenty of gore, the movie is debatably a satire, full of comic reliefs. Not to mention the film is also filmed and directed excellently. You will definitely get caught up in the story of these friends vacationing in a cabin but the bigger picture is what will really shock you.

5.      Leprechaun

I mean come on. This movie is literally about a killer leprechaun doing whatever it takes to get his gold. The absurdity and over the top nature of this movie makes it almost comitial rather than scary. If you liked the ridiculousness of the first movie you might want to check out some of the prequels including Leprechaun in the Hood and Leprechaun in Space.
